Ukrainian Forces Transform BMW 7-Series Into Unlikely Rocket Launcher
The Ukrainian military has transformed an E38-generation BMW 7-Series, originally a five-passenger luxury sedan, into a functional multiple rocket launch system.
In the 1997 film Tomorrow Never Dies, James Bond famously drove an E38-generation BMW 750iL outfitted with machine guns, rockets, and an array of spy gadgets. Fast forward 28 years, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces have created their own combat-ready version of the iconic luxury sedan—this time for real-world warfare.
According to a report from CarScoops, the 7th Battalion of the 114th Separate Brigade has modified a BMW 7-Series into a fully weaponized vehicle to aid in operations against Russian forces. Unlike Bond’s cinematic ride, this BMW is very much firing for real.
Videos of the Ukrainian-modified BMW have been circulating on social media in recent days. BFBS Forces News, for instance, shared a reel on Instagram showcasing the vehicle in action, highlighting its unusual yet formidable transformation from luxury sedan to battlefield machine.

The BMW has been outfitted with part of a Soviet-era BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), enabling it to fire three 122-mm rockets. Mounted on a BMW 7-Series sedan, the vehicle lacks the heavy armor typically found on standard MLRS platforms. However, what it lacks in protection, it more than makes up for in agility. Compared to the 14-ton trucks that usually carry the Grad system, the camouflaged BMW can quickly maneuver into position, launch its rockets, and disappear before drawing return fire.
The use of a BMW sedan as a launch platform suggests that conventional MLRS vehicles may not be readily available in Ukraine at the moment. Necessity has driven ingenuity, and the videos of this modified BMW 7-Series E38 in action show that it performs its new role effectively. What was once the ultimate driving machine has now been transformed into an unexpected but formidable fighting machine.
