Hyundai has issued a safety recall for the 2025 Palisade due to a potential fire risk linked to an electrical short. While the issue sounds serious, it currently affects only 620 vehicles, making it unlikely that your Palisade is impacted. The Palisade remains one of Hyundai’s most popular models in the U.S., and it’s currently our top-rated three-row midsize SUV.
The issue stems from a potentially faulty hermetic seal on the electric oil pump’s housing, which may have been compromised due to damaged manufacturing tools. This defect could allow moisture to enter the housing and accumulate on the printed circuit board, increasing the risk of an electrical short. Given the oil pump’s function and location, such a short could potentially ignite a fire.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), affected owners can continue driving their vehicles; however, Hyundai recommends parking them outdoors and away from buildings as a precaution until repairs are completed. If your 2025 Hyundai Palisade is involved in the recall, you’ll receive a notification by mail starting in early July. The repair, which includes replacing the oil pump controller and associated wiring harness, will be performed free of charge at an authorized Hyundai dealership.
Although this recall affects a relatively small number of vehicles, it marks the latest in a string of fire-related recalls involving Hyundai and Kia. In August 2023, approximately 91,000 vehicles were recalled due to a fire risk linked to the brands’ start/stop technology. Just a year earlier, in September 2022, Hyundai and Kia issued a broader recall covering multiple models—including the Telluride, Sorento, Sportage, and Palisade—spanning model years 2016 through 2023, due to potential electrical shorts in the trailer wiring harnesses that could lead to fires.
The 2025 Hyundai Palisade recall, announced on May 5, appears to be relatively straightforward. If you own one of these vehicles, be sure to watch your mail for further instructions.
