Porsche 911 GT1 Revival That Won’t Be Made Is a Purple-and-Gold Masterpiece

“RML Celebrates 40 Years With a Stunning Purple and Gold Modern 911 GT1”

Is there space in the market for yet another small-volume, bespoke hypercar? RML, the British racing and custom car specialist, believes there is. Their new creation, the RML GT Hypercar, is a Porsche-based powerhouse. This reimagined 911 features a carbon fiber body, active aerodynamics, adaptive damping, and a flat-six engine producing 920 horsepower. While built to chase track records on the weekends, RML claims the car still offers a comfortable ride for everyday driving.

Inspired by Porsche’s Legendary 911 GT1

RML – Ray Mallock Limited – draws on its rich motorsports heritage and icons like the Porsche 911 GT1 for inspiration. The result is a car previously teased under the P39 name, crafted to deliver that legendary performance to an exclusive handful of enthusiasts.

The active aerodynamics on the RML GT Hypercar are no joke. In Track mode, the front spoiler extends three inches to optimize balance, while air curtains and vents boost downforce dramatically—from 322 pounds on the stock 911 Turbo S to 1,147 pounds in Road mode and over 1,461 pounds in Track mode. For straight-line speed, the adjustable rear wing can reduce drag by 23%, giving the car serious high-speed capability.

The engine is just as formidable. RML’s Porsche-sourced flat-six delivers 920 horsepower and over 738 lb-ft of torque. Tuned in collaboration with British performance specialists Litchfield Motors, it comes with a one-year warranty, over-the-air diagnostics, and a 600-horsepower Wet mode for when you want a more manageable level of power.

The interior has seen a major upgrade as well. The seats have been retrimmed with contrasting stitching, complemented by body-colored carbon fiber trim throughout the cabin. Even the roll cage receives a striking finish in Storm Purple, tying the interior design to the car’s bold exterior.

RML’s 39th Project Car Series Celebrates 40 Years

RML unveiled the car at Salon Privé 2025, held not in France but at Blenheim Palace, just north of Oxford, England. The first of only 39 cars demonstrates the extensive customization options available. This example comes equipped with the Performance and Track Packs, including adjustable ride height, a rear roll cage, and the removal of the back seat. Finished in Storm Purple with tinted exposed carbon and gold accents, it shows prospective buyers just how bold they can go with their own RML GT Hypercar.

For this car, the number 39 carries extra significance. RML has been crafting racing and road cars since 1984, and the GT Hypercar is the 39th project car in its series. Some of these projects were delivered to customers, while others were developed for OEMs and remain under wraps. For example, the P31 was RML’s code name during the development of the NIO EP9 EV supercar, which clocked a record 6:45 at the Nürburgring and set multiple lap records worldwide, once holding the title of the fastest EV on the planet. While RML may not be a household name, its history speaks to serious performance expertise.

If you missed out on the Porsche 911 GT1 Straßenversion in the late 1990s, the RML GT Hypercar is likely the closest you’ll get today. RML is ready to build one to your exact specifications—if you’re among the next 38 buyers, that is.
