Maserati MCPura 2026 Refines the MC20 Formula

"While the powertrain remains the same, refreshed styling and interior upgrades breathe new life into Maserati's mid-engined sports car."

The Goodwood Festival of Speed has cemented itself as a go-to stage for high-profile vehicle debuts in recent years, and the 2025 edition proved no exception. Among the standout unveilings was Maserati’s latest supercar project: the Maserati MCPura and its open-top sibling, the MCPura Cielo. Positioned as successors to the MC20, these new models offer a sharper, more performance-oriented evolution of Maserati’s carbon-fiber tub platform.

The Maserati MCPura may wear a new name, but it’s more of an evolution than a revolution. Under the skin, it retains much of what made the MC20 special—including the carbon fiber monocoque co-developed with Dallara. The glorious twin-turbo Nettuno V-6 returns unchanged, delivering 621 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque. That output is still routed to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic. Maserati claims a 0–60 mph sprint of under 2.9 seconds—about two-tenths quicker than the MC20 managed in Car and Driver’s tests—while the top speed holds steady at 202 mph. In short, the fundamentals haven’t changed much—and that’s not a bad thing.

At first glance, the MCPura closely resembles the outgoing MC20, but a closer look reveals a series of subtle, well-considered updates. Maserati dedicated more than 2,000 man-hours to wind tunnel testing in collaboration with Dallara to fine-tune the styling and aerodynamics. The influence of the GT2 Stradale and MCXtrema is evident, particularly in the reshaped front and rear fascias, which subtly alter the car’s overall profile. For those seeking a racier aesthetic, an optional oversized rear wing—another nod to the GT2—is available. While the design changes aren’t dramatic, they enhance performance without compromising the elegant proportions that defined the MC20.

The Maserati MCPura makes a bold first impression in its debut color, AI Aqua Rainbow—a striking hue offered in matte for the coupe and gloss for the convertible. At launch, Maserati will also offer a vibrant palette that includes Devil Orange, Grigio Incognito, Grigio Mistero, Nero Essenza, Bianco Audace, Blu Infinito, Rosso Vincente, Giallo Genio, Verde Royale, and Night Interaction. No matter the chosen body color, every MCPura will come with a contrasting dark lower fascia for a grounded, performance-focused look.

Inside, the MCPura’s cabin is draped in rich Alcantara, delivering a familiar yet elevated sense of performance luxury. Maserati has added fresh touches to keep the look modern, including laser-etched detailing on the seats that adds both texture and visual intrigue. The Cielo convertible variant further enhances the experience with its retractable glass roof, flooding the cabin with natural light even when the top is closed—creating a brighter, more open atmosphere.

Technology plays a key role in the Maserati MCPura cabin, where dual 10.25-inch displays serve as the digital interface, powered by Maserati’s latest Android-based infotainment system. A newly designed steering wheel—borrowed in spirit from the GT2 race cars—adds a motorsport-inspired touch with its flat-top and flat-bottom design. Wrapped in Alcantara to match the rest of the interior, the wheel balances form and function with understated elegance, fitting seamlessly into the car’s clean, driver-focused aesthetic.

Maserati has yet to reveal official pricing for the MCPura and MCPura Cielo, but expectations are that they’ll be priced similarly to the current MC20 lineup. That likely places the coupe’s starting price near $245,000, with the convertible version coming in around $280,000. More details are anticipated as the launch date approaches.
