Chevy Corvette ZR1 Dominates Ferrari and Lamborghini in Head-to-Head Race

"Once again, the Chevy Corvette ZR1 proves itself a formidable rival to high-end European exotics, especially those hailing from Italy."

Owners of the all-new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will soon take delivery of their American-bred supercar. While immediate profit from resale may be unlikely, the Chevy Corvette ZR1 name has long stood as a formidable rival to Europe’s most exotic machines. The latest C8-generation ZR1 continues that tradition, and a newly surfaced video highlights just how blisteringly fast it is when stacked up against 1,000-horsepower Italian supercars.

In this head-turning quarter-mile drag race hosted by Hagerty, the Chevy Corvette ZR1 went head-to-head with two of Italy’s finest: the Ferrari SF90 Stradale and the Lamborghini Revuelto. It wasn’t a straightforward victory for the Corvette—off the line, the all-wheel-drive Lambo hooked up instantly, pulling ahead and leaving the Chevy behind. But the ZR1 clawed back ground with stunning acceleration, overtaking the Revuelto just before the finish for a decisive win. As for the Ferrari? It trailed far behind, never seriously challenging the front-runners.

    The Tale of the Tape

To truly appreciate the magnitude of the Chevy Corvette ZR1 victory, it helps to look at the specs. Under the hood lies a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter LT7 V8 engine, producing a jaw-dropping 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque. Paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, it’s the most powerful V8 Chevrolet has ever built. Even more remarkable? All that monstrous power is delivered exclusively to the rear wheels—a rare and bold setup in a world where all-wheel drive often reigns supreme.

Facing off against the Chevy Corvette ZR1 were two hybrid hypercars from Italy. The Lamborghini Revuelto boasts a naturally aspirated V12 engine paired with three electric motors, delivering a combined 1,001 horsepower and 787 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale features a twin-turbo V8 also assisted by three electric motors, generating a total of 986 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the rear-wheel-drive ZR1, both Italian rivals benefit from sophisticated all-wheel-drive systems for maximum traction.

Yes, the Corvette ZR1 Is Terrifyingly Fast

Chevrolet estimates the C8 Corvette ZR1 can conquer the quarter-mile in just 9.6 seconds at a trap speed of 152 mph. In the recent drag race, the winning ZR1 clocked in slightly slower—9.8 seconds at 146 mph—but still delivered a jaw-dropping performance. Critics may argue that straight-line speed alone doesn’t define a great sports car or supercar, but there’s no denying the ZR1’s raw pace. It’s brutally fast—fast enough to outrun and outshine some of Europe’s most advanced exotics.

      One Big Question Remains

There’s still one question hanging in the air: Can the Chevy Corvette ZR1 deliver the same jaw-dropping performance on a proper road course—specifically, the legendary 12.9-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife? And more importantly, can it beat the lap time of the formidable Ford Mustang GTD? The drag strip victory was impressive, but now all eyes are on the track. Your move, Chevy—we’re waiting.
