2027 Ford Bronco RTR Debuts as a Budget-Friendly Raptor Alternative

All the Raptor capability you want at a far lower price.

The Detroit Auto Show kicks off this week. Not long ago, it stood as the most important event on the automotive calendar—the stage for landmark debuts like the new Volkswagen Beetle and a showcase for daring concept cars. Today, many automakers have scaled back their presence or skipped the show altogether. Ford, however, is doing the opposite. The Blue Oval is using the event to introduce a new addition to the Bronco lineup: the 2027 Ford Bronco RTR.

Like the Mustang RTR, the Ford Bronco RTR is the result of a collaboration with RTR Vehicles. It follows the brand’s philosophy of being “available to all, not for everyone.” The mission was to create the most fun, capable, and durable Bronco possible—without stepping into Bronco Raptor territory—while keeping the price within reach. That approach is intended to make the Bronco RTR appealing to younger buyers. Racing driver and RTR founder Vaughn Gittin Jr. says the Bronco RTR represents exactly how he would spec his own Bronco.

Every Bronco RTR is powered by Ford’s 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-four, producing a healthy 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. Buyers can choose from several tire and suspension setups. The standard Bronco RTR rides on 33-inch Goodyear Rugged Terrain tires, now paired— for the first time—with a high-clearance suspension.

For those wanting more off-road capability, the optional Sasquatch package upgrades the Bronco RTR with 35-inch Goodyear Rugged Terrain tires and Ford’s HOSS 3.0 suspension featuring Fox internal bypass shocks, previously reserved for the Bronco Badlands. The Bronco RTR also benefits from a wider track than the standard Bronco, though it stops short of the extreme width of the Bronco Raptor.

Features the Ford Bronco RTR Offers

Like the Mustang RTR and Bronco Raptor, the 2027 Ford Bronco RTR is equipped with anti-lag turbo technology. When Baja mode is engaged, the system maintains boost even when the driver lifts off the throttle, delivering immediate, lag-free response when power is reapplied. Ford has also strengthened the steering system and fitted the Bronco RTR with the same 1,000-watt cooling fan used in the Bronco Raptor.

According to Ford and RTR, the goal was to engineer the difficult and costly components—such as enhanced cooling, anti-lag software, and the upgraded suspension—directly from the factory, rather than leaving them to the aftermarket. The result is a Bronco that can confidently handle nearly any reasonable off-road challenge while still serving as a solid foundation for owners who want to further personalize their build.

The 2027 Ford Bronco RTR also stands out with a number of unique visual elements. It wears a new RTR grille accented by signature hockey-stick lighting, along with Hyper Lime body graphics and matching rock rings on its 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels. Additional graphics run along the sides and across the hood, depicting the topography of Johnson Valley, California—the rugged terrain where Ford put the Bronco RTR through its testing program.

How Much Does the Bronco RTR Cost?

Ford has not yet released official pricing for the Bronco RTR, saying final numbers will be announced closer to launch. However, the automaker has confirmed that pricing will start below the Bronco Badlands equipped with the Sasquatch package. For context, the Bronco Badlands currently starts at $49,585, while adding the Sasquatch package pushes the price to around $55,000. Based on that, a starting price in the low $50,000 range appears likely.

Order books for the 2027 Ford Bronco RTR open in October 2026, with Ford planning to have the new variant arrive at dealerships in January 2027.
