2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss First Look: The Electric Off-Road Beast
Chevrolet seems poised to launch an electric truck built for off-road adventures. But the big question remains: Are buyers ready to embrace it?
Soon, you’ll be able to cruise quietly through deserts and backwoods in the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss—a rugged new variant of the Silverado EV built to handle just about anything. It features a retuned and lifted suspension, larger tires, a redesigned front bumper, and a host of upgrades that make this all-electric Chevy pickup ready for off-road adventures. Let’s dive in and explore what Chevrolet has packed into this tough, trail-ready EV truck.
Teased at the 2025 Mint 400 off-road race, the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss continues the legacy of Trail Boss models by providing off-road features that strike a perfect balance—tough enough for adventure but still practical for everyday driving.
This means the all-electric Silverado now features a redesigned front fascia, enabling it to tackle trail obstacles with greater ease—offering an improved approach angle of 31.6 degrees compared to the standard Silverado EV’s 21.7 degrees. Additionally, it comes equipped with a pair of red-painted tow hooks, perfect for winching yourself out of deep mud or lending a hand to a fellow adventurer in need.
The 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss also boasts increased ground clearance compared to the standard model. This improvement comes from a two-inch suspension lift paired with 35-inch all-terrain tires (LT285/75R18 metric spec) mounted on Trail Boss–exclusive 18-inch wheels. As a result, this tougher electric Chevy truck offers 10.04 inches of ground clearance, up from 8.9 inches on the regular versions. To complement the lift and larger tires, Chevrolet equipped the Trail Boss with specially tuned rebound dampers unique to this model.
Inside the 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss, you’ll find a distinctive interior equipped with auxiliary switches designed for custom lighting and other accessories. The Trail Boss also offers an exclusive Terrain mode tailored for low-speed off-road driving, which enhances control by enabling a sharper turning radius through four-wheel steering compared to standard modes. Additionally, it features Sidewinder capability, allowing diagonal movement in all modes—though this remains limited to low speeds for safety and precision.
The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss comes standard with the larger Extended Range battery pack, delivering up to 410 miles of driving range. For those seeking even more distance and power, an optional Max Range battery pack is available, offering up to 478 miles of range. The Max Range pack also boosts performance, producing up to 725 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque, compared to the Extended Range’s 625 horsepower and 765 lb-ft, both powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system.
The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss will arrive this summer, with the Extended Range battery pack starting at $72,095 and the Max Range pack priced from $88,695.
