2026 Buick SUV Remains Cheaper Than Luxury Rivals Despite Price Jump

This Imported SUV Costs Much More Than Last Year — But Does It Still Offer Strong Value?

Automakers are finally beginning to react to rising tariff costs by bumping up their MSRPs. Minor increases have already appeared across the market, but the 2026 Buick SUV Envision may be the first model to make a significant move. The China-built crossover enters the new model year with a starting price of $41,000 — a $3,000 jump from the end of the 2025 model year and a full $5,000 more than its price at the start of 2025.

Buick might blur the boundary between mainstream and premium brands, but its current pricing pushes it solidly into the premium category — still managing to come in below comparable models from Lexus, Acura, and Lincoln.

SUV Now Well Over $40k

The 2026 Buick SUV Envision now starts at $41,000, with an additional $1,895 destination charge pushing it well past the $40k mark. Buick isn’t offering any incentives at the moment, and it appears that units have yet to reach dealership lots. Moving up to the Sport Touring trim brings the sticker price to $43,500 before destination, while the range-topping Avenir comes in at $50,700.

For reference, the 2026 Buick SUV Envision lineup begins at $38,000 for the Preferred trim, followed by the Sport Touring at $40,500 and the Avenir at $47,700. All of these figures are before the additional $1,895 destination charge.

However, at the start of the 2025 model year, Buick’s pricing was considerably lower. Each trim level carried an MSRP that was $1,500 cheaper, beginning with $36,500 for the Preferred. On top of that, the destination charge also rose mid-year, jumping $500 from $1,395 to $1,895.

For anyone considering a new 2026 Buick SUV Envision, that amounts to a $5,000—roughly 13%—price increase in less than a year. It’s not exactly shocking if you’ve been keeping up with the headlines: President Trump’s tariff push against numerous countries has resulted in an additional 25% import duty on new vehicles. EVs are subject to even higher rates, and both legal challenges and ongoing trade negotiations continue to shape the situation.

Buick Hasn’t Cut Features… Yet

For now, GM doesn’t appear to have removed any equipment from its midsize Buick. The lineup still opens with the Preferred trim, which offers HD surround-view cameras, a 30-inch ultrawide display with Google built-in, a Bose audio system, and perforated leatherette seats.

All-wheel drive remains standard as well, paired with a 228-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission.

There are a few actual updates for the new model year, though none that most drivers will immediately notice. On the Avenir trim, for instance, two new paint colors—Midnight Opal and Quartz Blue—have been added, while Calypso Blue, Smokey Amethyst, and White Frost have been dropped from the palette.

Because many Buick dealers also sell GMC vehicles, anyone put off by the Envision’s higher pricing might be steered toward the GMC Terrain. While the Terrain is similar in size, it’s not as well equipped and comes with a less powerful 1.5-liter engine. However, it’s far more affordable, starting at $32,100 with all-wheel drive, plus a $1,795 destination charge.

GMC’s price bump is modest—just $100 over the 2025 model—assuming you haven’t already headed for the Acura or Lexus dealership down the street. If you have, the Buick may start to look like a bargain again. The 2025 Acura RDX begins at $44,700 before destination, the 2026 Lexus NX starts at $44,825, and over at Lincoln, the Corsair opens at $42,285.
