The Latest Totem Alfa Romeo Restomod Is as Gorgeous as Ever

Nearly everything Alfa Romeo created in the 1960s seemed to qualify as rolling artwork. Even the more attainable Giulia sedans and coupes carried an unmistakable beauty, and today they’re cherished by enthusiasts for their Italian design flair and engaging performance. Totem Automobili has capitalized on that legacy, building the GT and GT Electric—modernized interpretations of the classic two-door Alfa—featuring carbon-fiber body panels, billet-aluminum suspension parts, and exquisitely crafted interiors befitting their nearly $630,000 starting prices. The company has now delivered its 16th GT Electric, and this example comes with several special touches tailored to delight its new owner.

An Homage to the Canals of Venice

Totem finished the carbon-fiber bodywork of GT Electric No. 16—nicknamed “Amelie”—in a striking blue-green hue called Lagoon Teal, a bespoke color created to honor the company’s Venetian roots. Tailored to the client’s tastes, the car also features satin bronze exterior accents, applied to the door handles, window trim, wiper arms, and the classic 12-hole GTAm wheels. Additional touches include satin-finished carbon-fiber rocker panels and a rear diffuser, both executed in a custom herringbone weave pattern never before used on a GT Electric.

The cabin mirrors the exterior’s subtle elegance, trimmed in Truffle Brown Nappa leather and a bespoke houndstooth fabric created specifically for Amelie. The seatbacks and center console feature the same herringbone carbon weave found on the bodywork, creating a cohesive design theme, while the door panels and instrument cluster showcase Totem’s signature checkerboard carbon pattern. Modern tech is neatly integrated as well, including a contemporary infotainment setup—almost certainly a Porsche Classic Communication Management touchscreen—discreetly concealed behind Totem-specific trim.

One of the standout bespoke features Totem created for this GT Electric is a custom cigar humidor, crafted with the same leather and fabric used throughout the cabin. Built exclusively for Amelie, the humidor reflects the owner’s personal tastes while highlighting Totem’s talent for true one-off customization. The box is designed to fit perfectly in the rear boot, the small frunk beneath the hood, or even on the rear parcel shelf of the two-seat interior. And if anyone asks, you can always claim it’s meant for safely transporting family keepsakes or miniature works of art.

For those who prefer their smoke coming from the tires, the Totem GT Electric features a single rear-mounted motor delivering 590 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque, paired with a limited-slip differential to manage traction. With optimal launch conditions, it can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in under three seconds. Driven more conservatively, the GT Electric offers an estimated range of 250 to 300 miles, depending on conditions. Its carbon-fiber monocoque houses an 81-kilowatt-hour battery pack capable of charging at up to 90 kilowatts.

Discussing the final price of Totem GT Electric No. 16 might be impolite, but with the base model starting at €539,000 (roughly $630,000), it’s safe to assume this bespoke example didn’t come cheap. Using only the options listed on Totem’s configurator, we spec’d a build that reached at least €589,100 (about $686,000), and that’s before factoring in special touches like the custom cigar humidor, exclusive carbon-fiber weave, and tailor-made upholstery. Still, if your budget allows, there are far less beautiful ways to spend that kind of money.
