Mahindra Rolls Out New Budget Baby SUV in Australia
Mahindra has officially opened bookings for its new compact XUV 3XO SUV, positioning it to compete directly with models from Chery and Mazda.
More details about the 2025 Mahindra XUV 3XO have been revealed ahead of its first deliveries to Australian customers, expected on July 4, 2025.
The city-focused XUV 3XO is Mahindra’s smallest crossover SUV available in Australia, set to compete with popular models such as the Chery Tiggo 4, Hyundai Venue, Kia Stonic, Mazda CX-3, Toyota Yaris Cross, Nissan Juke, and Volkswagen T-Cross.
Priced to appeal to budget-conscious buyers, the XUV 3XO is anticipated to cost under $30,000. Mahindra Automotive Australia plans to officially announce the local pricing details at 6:30 PM AEST on July 3, 2025.
The first units of the 2025 Mahindra XUV 3XO are already arriving at local dealerships across Australia.
Mahindra has confirmed two model grades for the Australian market: the entry-level AX5L and the more premium AX7L (with “L” standing for Luxury). This naming convention follows the same strategy used for Mahindra’s XUV 700, which competes with the Mitsubishi Outlander and Nissan X-Trail.
Mahindra has yet to release a full specifications list for the XUV 3XO, but it has confirmed some key features. The SUV will come equipped with a 26.03-inch screen setup, including a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
On the safety front, the XUV 3XO will offer autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition.
Although Mahindra Australia has not officially confirmed the powertrain details, the claimed fuel economy of 6.5L/100km aligns with the 82kW/200Nm 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Mahindra recently showcased a crash-test demonstration of the XUV 3XO to media in India. The automaker stated that while the vehicle isn’t specifically tuned to pass formal crash tests, it is engineered to deliver five-star safety performance for real-world conditions.
Based in Brisbane, Queensland, Mahindra Australia is undergoing a brand transformation, shifting from its traditional image as a producer of rugged, farm-focused utility vehicles to a family-friendly mainstream brand.
The XUV700 and XUV 3XO represent this fresh direction, offering more sophisticated designs and upgraded features as part of Mahindra’s global product expansion.
Currently, Mahindra is running end-of-financial-year (EOFY) deals for 2025 models, including the XUV700 AX7L, along with its Scorpio Z8 and Z8L SUVs.
