2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class EV – Overview
The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC-class EV closely resembles its gasoline-powered counterpart, but its electric powertrain brings a completely new driving experience. We recently test drove a prototype of the compact electric crossover on icy roads in northern Sweden, and the results were impressive: a smooth ride, responsive acceleration, and the signature luxury feel Mercedes is known for.
Mercedes will offer two versions: the single-motor GLC300+ and the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive GLC400 4Matic, both equipped with the same battery pack. The GLC400 is expected to deliver a driving range of around 376 miles per charge, while the range for the GLC300+ has not yet been disclosed. Both models feature spacious, high-end interiors with advanced technology, including an optional 39.1-inch Hyperscreen that stretches across the full width of the dashboard.
Expert Tip: For those not ready to commit to a fully electric SUV, Mercedes-Benz also offers a plug-in hybrid version of the gas-powered GLC, which we cover in a separate review.
When Is The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class EV Coming Out?
The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class EV is expected to hit dealerships in the late summer of 2026, with production models being delivered shortly after. Early reservations are already open in select markets, and Mercedes plans a phased rollout worldwide.
What’s New for 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class EV?
The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class EV is a fresh addition to Mercedes-Benz’s electric lineup. Positioned below the mid-size EQE SUV, it introduces a shift in naming, dropping the familiar EQ prefix that the brand has previously used for its EV models.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class EV is expected to start at around $60,000, with fully equipped models topping out near $72,000, depending on trim and options.

Opting for the Exclusive trim seems worthwhile, as it adds standout features such as an illuminated grille, a panoramic glass roof with adjustable opacity, ambient interior lighting, and a 14-inch passenger display. For most drivers, the single-motor GLC300+ should deliver plenty of power—and it may even offer a longer driving range than the dual-motor GLC400 4Matic—but we’ll need to wait for official details before confirming.
EV Motor, Power, and Performance
-
EV Motors: 369-hp single motor, 483-hp dual motor
-
Drivetrains: Rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive
The base GLC300+ features a single electric motor producing 369 horsepower and powering the rear wheels. Opting for the dual-motor GLC400 4Matic adds all-wheel drive and boosts output to 483 horsepower.
A two-speed automatic transmission is included, though gear changes are imperceptible during driving. Ride comfort is strong, particularly with the optional air-spring suspension, which can also raise the vehicle for extra ground clearance if you plan on tackling off-road terrain.
0–60-MPH Times
-
GLC300+: Estimated 5.9 seconds
-
GLC400 4Matic: Estimated 4.4 seconds
For context, the 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class EV competes with the BMW iX3 and the Porsche Macan EV. The iX3 posts a similar 0–60 mph time to the GLC400 at 4.7 seconds, while the Macan EV 4S is quicker, hitting 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds in our tests.
Towing and Payload Capacity
-
Maximum Towing: 5,291 pounds
Mercedes notes that the GLC400 can tow up to 5,291 pounds when equipped with an optional trailer hitch. Without the hitch, towing is not recommended.
Range, Charging, and Battery Life
-
Estimated EV Range: 376 miles
Mercedes-Benz predicts that the GLC400 4Matic will offer an EPA-estimated range of approximately 376 miles. The company has not yet provided a range estimate for the single-motor GLC300+.
The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class EV features a 94-kWh battery pack capable of charging at up to 400-volt stations. Mercedes claims this allows the vehicle to gain up to 188 miles of range in just 10 minutes. We’re eager to test this claim once the electric GLC is available for review.

Second Row: The rear seating is roomier than in the gas-powered GLC, offering ample legroom for even tall passengers.
