Mazda’s SUV lineup continues to impress. The brand recently introduced the budget-friendly CX-50 and the three-row CX-90, and now it has filled the gap in between with the two-row 2026 Mazda CX-70, which made its debut for the 2025 model year. Essentially a smaller, two-row version of the CX-90, the CX-70 gives drivers who don’t need a third row a bit more room and comfort without going overboard.
Mazda has officially launched the CX-70, and as expected, there aren’t major technical updates for the 2026 model. That said, the brand is making notable changes in how it positions the SUV—and the most fuel-efficient CX-70 just received a substantial price cut.
The Mazda CX-70 PHEV Sees Major Price Reduction
The 2025 Mazda CX-70 PHEV previously started at $54,400 with the PHEV Premium trim. Mazda has now replaced that with the PHEV SC trim, which comes in over $10,000 lower at $44,250. The upgraded option is now the PHEV SC Plus, priced at $47,250—more than $10,000 less than the $57,450 PHEV Premium Plus it replaces. A destination and handling fee of $1,530 applies.
It’s rare to see a vehicle drop by $10,000 (HARJA even double-checked with Mazda to confirm it wasn’t a typo). So why the drastic price cut? The answer lies in understanding the 2026 Mazda CX-70 for what it is: a two-row version of the CX-90. The new PHEV SC trims are slightly decontented, featuring leatherette and leather seating rather than the leather and Nappa leather offered on last year’s models. This repositioning sets up the CX-70 PHEV as a more affordable entry point leading into the CX-90 PHEV lineup, which now starts around $50,000 at the Preferred trim, with Premium and Premium Plus options above it.
The 2026 Mazda CX-70 PHEV’s 2.5-liter inline-four powertrain still delivers the same combined 323 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque as last year. The notable improvement comes in its electric-only range, which Mazda has increased from 26 miles to 30 miles.

The Gas-Powered Mazda CX-70 Sees a Slight Price Increase
For 2026, Mazda has raised the base MSRP of the CX-70. The 3.3 Turbo Preferred trim now starts at $42,250, up $1,805 from last year’s $40,445. On paper, this makes the CX-70 slightly more expensive than the 2026 CX-90, which starts at $38,800. The key difference is that the CX-90 offers a stripped-down Select trim, while the 2026 Mazda CX-70 doesn’t. When comparing identical trims, the CX-70 actually comes in about $700 cheaper.
Mazda also raised prices on other CX-70 trims, though the increases were smaller than the jump for the base model. The largest hike was $790, bringing the 3.3 Turbo S Premium Plus CX-70 to a starting MSRP of $56,670.
Mazda Adds More Standard Features to Gas-Powered CX-70 Models
Mazda has upgraded the comfort features on its combustion CX-70 models. The base 3.3 Turbo Preferred trim now comes standard with heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. Both front seats are now eight-way power adjustable, with the driver’s seat also offering power lumbar support and two-position memory.
To get all of those premium comfort features on the plug-in hybrid, you’ll need the PHEV SC Plus trim. Mazda has also made some exterior updates: all CX-70 models now come with gloss-black Mazda emblems and black badges on the rear liftgate.
The 2026 Mazda CX-70 is expected to arrive at dealerships soon.
