Pros
  • Super-responsive powertrain

Cons

  • A turbo four and e-motors can't match the sound of an angry V-8

2025 Mercedes-AMG C63 – Overview

The 2024 Mercedes-AMG C63 sedan represents a dramatic shift in philosophy. Gone is the thunderous 4.0-liter V-8 of the previous generation, replaced by a far smaller turbocharged four-cylinder engine. But downsizing doesn’t mean compromise—thanks to a sophisticated plug-in hybrid setup, the new 2025 Mercedes-AMG C63 unleashes a staggering 671 horsepower and 752 pound-feet of torque when its systems work in unison.

Despite carrying more weight than its predecessor, the C63 actually outpaces it in the sprint to 60 mph. The chassis has been thoroughly re-engineered as well, delivering crisper handling and more feedback through the steering wheel. Inside, the cabin mirrors the sleek, modern design of the current C-Class, elevated with AMG-specific touches such as supportive sport seats and performance-inspired details.

Its rivals remain familiar: the BMW M3 and Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing continue to challenge AMG’s sports sedan dominance. For those seeking something a bit more restrained, AMG still offers the C43, which is covered in a separate review.

    What’s New for 2025 Mercedes-AMG C63?

For 2025, the Mercedes-AMG C63 gains several tech and safety updates. The sedan now runs on Mercedes’ latest MBUX3 infotainment system with 5G connectivity, while a new center-mounted airbag enhances passenger protection. On the performance side, buyers can opt for an AMG high-performance ceramic composite braking system for improved stopping power.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The 2025 Mercedes-AMG C63 starts at $87,200, with fully equipped models reaching $89,250, depending on trim and options.

    Trim Starting MSRP (est.)
    C63
    $87,200
    C63 Pinnacle
    $89,250

For most buyers, the standard C63 delivers everything you need. If you’re willing to spend an additional $2,050, the Pinnacle trim adds a few premium touches, including augmented video navigation, a head-up display, and Mercedes’ “Digital Light” LED headlamps.

    Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The 2025 Mercedes-AMG C63 ditches the previous generation’s twin-turbo V-8 in favor of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. But don’t let the smaller engine size fool you—this inline-four is paired with a 201-horsepower electric motor and features an electric turbocharger to minimize lag. Together, the plug-in hybrid powertrain delivers a staggering 671 horsepower, giving the C63 an edge over rivals like the BMW M3 and Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, at least on paper.

While the car allows for limited all-electric driving—roughly six miles—the system’s main goal is to match the performance of the outgoing V-8 while improving overall fuel efficiency. On both public roads and a racecourse, the C63 impressed with sharp handling and explosive acceleration. The ride strikes a balance between firm and comfortable, and the steering feels precise and responsive. Braking performance is excellent, with the C63 stopping from 70 mph in just 139 feet, though the pedal could offer a touch more firmness.

      0–60-MPH Times

During a test of a Euro-spec model in Europe, the 2025 Mercedes-AMG C63 sprinted from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds—0.7 seconds faster than its predecessor. Power delivery isn’t always perfectly linear, as the sophisticated hybrid system manages torque between the front and rear axles and operates through a two-speed transmission. Under normal driving, the system feels seamless, but during full-throttle launches, you can clearly feel it balancing power to maximize acceleration.

      Range, Charging, and Battery Life

Beyond boosting performance, the 2025 Mercedes-AMG C63 4.8-kWh battery pack allows for short bursts of all-electric driving, perfect for quiet commutes. However, range is limited to roughly six miles. The battery can be recharged in several ways: by plugging into a standard outlet or charging station, through the electric motor integrated into the turbocharger, or via regenerative braking.

      Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

With a fully depleted battery, the 2025 Mercedes-AMG C63 achieves an EPA-estimated 19 mpg in the city, 22 mpg on the highway, and 20 mpg combined. When operating as a plug-in hybrid using both gasoline and electricity, the C63 S E Performance earns a combined rating of 37 MPGe—miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent, the EPA’s metric for PHEV and EV efficiency. We plan to test the sedan on our 75-mph highway route and will update this review with real-world results. For more detailed figures, visit the EPA’s website.

      Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The 2025 Mercedes-AMG C63 interior closely mirrors the standard C-Class and the AMG C43, but it stands out with exclusive upholstery, distinctive stitching, and AMG-branded sport seats featuring cutouts to reduce weight. A panoramic sunroof comes standard, along with heated front seats; ventilated seats are available as an option. Additional upgrades include a heated steering wheel, enhanced sport seats with extra support, and acoustic glass for a quieter cabin.

Every 2025 Mercedes-AMG C63 comes equipped with an 11.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, angled slightly toward the driver for easier access. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster is also standard. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come included, along with a premium Burmester audio system for high-quality sound throughout the cabin.

          Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The 2025 Mercedes-AMG C63 comes with a suite of standard driver-assistance technologies, though some of the most advanced systems are optional. Notably, the adaptive cruise control that uses navigation data to adjust speed for curves and roundabouts is an upgrade.

          Key safety features include:

          • Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection

          • Available lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist

          • Available adaptive cruise control with lane-centering functionality

          Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Unlike some competitors, including BMW, Genesis, and Volvo, Mercedes-AMG does not include complimentary scheduled maintenance with the C63. The sedan does come with standard coverage, including:

          • Limited warranty: four years or 50,000 miles

          • Powertrain warranty: four years or 50,000 miles

          • No complimentary scheduled maintenance

          Final Verdict

The 2025 Mercedes-AMG C63 is a technological marvel — blindingly quick, packed with luxury, and filled with cutting-edge hardware. But its hybrid complexity and muted four-cylinder soundtrack may leave traditional AMG purists longing for the thunder of the old V8. If outright speed, innovation, and modern luxury matter most, this C63 is unmatched. If soul and simplicity matter more, its rivals may still hold the edge.
