2025 Genesis GV70 – Overview

At HARJA, we evaluate vehicles based on how well they fulfill their purpose. The 2025 Genesis GV70 was designed to deliver refinement, style, and exceptional value—and it succeeds brilliantly. So much so that it earned a place on our 10Best Trucks and SUVs list for 2025. That achievement is particularly noteworthy given the crowded field it competes in, going head-to-head with heavyweights like the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class.

On the road, the GV70 balances comfort and control with grace. Its ride is smooth and composed, leaning slightly more toward refinement than sportiness—a tradeoff that keeps it from unseating the Porsche Macan as the segment’s most engaging driver’s crossover. Still, for many buyers, this poised demeanor will be exactly what they’re looking for.

Power comes from a spirited 300-hp turbocharged four-cylinder as standard, but enthusiasts will want the 375-hp twin-turbo V-6, which rockets the GV70 to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds in our testing. We also put the GV70 through a 40,000-mile long-term test and came away so impressed that one of our editors purchased the vehicle at the end of the trial—a testament to its lasting appeal.

For those considering electrification, Genesis also offers the Electrified GV70, which we cover in a separate review.

    What’s New for 2025 Genesis GV70?

For 2025, the Genesis GV70 enters the new model year with only subtle updates. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard across the lineup, improving everyday convenience. On the styling front, the color palette has been slightly reshuffled: Cardiff Green and Brunswick Green are gone, replaced by a fresh Storr Green, available in both gloss and matte finishes. Buyers can also now choose from two additional matte shades, Matterhorn White Matte and Makalu Gray Matte, adding more personalization options.

While these tweaks keep the GV70 looking sharp, a more significant refresh is on the horizon for 2026. That update is expected to bring styling revisions and a new 27.0-inch infotainment display, marking the next evolution of Genesis’s popular luxury SUV.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The 2025 Genesis GV70 is priced from $47,650 to $69,850, depending on trim level and options.

    Trim Starting MSRP (est.)

    3.5T Sport Advanced
    $66,650
    3.5T Sport Prestige
    $69,850

While the entry-level model offers strong value, we recommend stepping up to the Advanced trim, which strikes the best balance between luxury and affordability. This version enhances the GV70 with leather upholstery, interior ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, and an expanded suite of driver-assistance features—including a clever remote self-parking function.

The Advanced trim also bundles in the premium touches of the Select model, such as 19-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and a 16-speaker Lexicon audio system, making it feel like a true luxury SUV.

As for performance, the standard 300-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder delivers lively acceleration, while the optional 375-hp twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 turns the GV70 into a genuinely quick performer. Both engines are smooth and refined, ensuring a premium driving experience regardless of choice.

    Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The 2025 Genesis GV70 offers two strong powertrain options. The base setup is a 300-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder, which delivers brisk acceleration and more than enough muscle for daily driving. For those who crave extra performance, the available 375-hp twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 transforms the GV70 into a genuinely quick luxury SUV. Both engines pair with a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission and come with standard all-wheel drive for added confidence in all weather conditions.

On the road, the GV70 strikes a near-perfect balance between poise and comfort. In Sport Plus mode, it reveals surprising athleticism, with the twin-turbo V-6 pulling hard and making highway merges effortless. While it doesn’t corner with the same razor-sharp precision as the Porsche Macan—long considered the sportiest SUV in the segment—the GV70 is still engaging on winding roads.

What sets it apart is its dual personality: sporty when you want excitement, but effortlessly refined and composed when it’s time to settle into the daily commute.

      0–60-MPH Times

The 2025 Genesis GV70 delivers strong acceleration regardless of engine choice. In our testing, the 375-hp twin-turbo V-6 launched the GV70 to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds when brand new. Even after 40,000 miles in our long-term fleet, it remained quick, posting a 5.0-second run.

The 300-hp turbocharged four-cylinder is no slouch either, recording a 5.6-second 0–60 mph time—plenty fast for the compact luxury SUV segment.

Whether you choose the four-cylinder or the V-6, the GV70 provides confident performance that matches its upscale character.

      Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The 2025 Genesis GV70 delivers respectable fuel economy for a luxury SUV, with efficiency varying by engine choice. According to the EPA, the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is the most efficient, earning 22 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. The more powerful 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 is slightly thirstier, rated at 18 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

In our real-world testing, however, the GV70 impressed. On our 200-mile, 75-mph highway test loop, the 2.5T model met its 28-mpg rating, while the 3.5T exceeded expectations with a 26-mpg result, proving that performance and efficiency can coexist in this SUV.

For detailed fuel economy data, visit the EPA’s official website.

      Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The 2025 Genesis GV70 stands out with a cabin that feels both daring and elegant, offering a more adventurous design than its larger GV80 sibling. The flowing lines of the exterior continue inside, creating a cohesive, high-fashion aesthetic. Premium materials are used throughout, and details like the knurled glass shift knob reinforce the SUV’s upscale character.

Passenger space is comfortable, though not overly generous. The rear seats provide more legroom than the G70 sedan, but taller passengers may still find the second row a little snug compared with roomier rivals. Up front, however, the GV70 feels plush and driver-focused, with supportive seating and thoughtful ergonomics.

Cargo capacity is competitive for the class. We managed to fit seven carry-on suitcases behind the rear seats and 22 in total with them folded flat. That’s more space than the Audi Q5 can manage, though still shy of the cavernous Lexus RX.

        Infotainment and Connectivity

Inside, the 2025 Genesis GV70 borrows its infotainment setup from the larger GV80, featuring a large widescreen display that rises elegantly from the dashboard. The system is controlled primarily through a rotary clickwheel on the center console, offering an alternative to touch input.

Standard technology includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot to keep passengers connected on the go. For audiophiles, an available premium Lexicon 16-speaker sound system delivers impressive clarity and depth.

One ergonomic misstep, however, is the placement of the infotainment control knob right next to the rotary transmission selector. In practice, this design can occasionally lead to unintended inputs, such as changing a radio station when you meant to shift gears. Despite this quirk, the GV70’s infotainment suite is intuitive, responsive, and well-equipped for the segment.

          Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The 2025 Genesis GV70 comes well-equipped with a suite of driver-assistance technologies. Standard features include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. An available adaptive cruise control system adds lane-centering capability for added convenience and safety. For detailed crash-test ratings, visit the (NHTSA) and (IIHS) websites.

          Key Safety Features:

          • Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection

          • Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist

          • Available adaptive cruise control with lane-centering

          Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Genesis offers industry-leading warranty coverage that exceeds most other luxury brands. The 2025 GV70 includes a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance. For comparison, the Jaguar F-Pace has similar bumper-to-bumper coverage and longer complimentary maintenance, but its powertrain warranty is nearly half that of Genesis.

          Key Coverage:

          • Limited warranty: 5 years or 60,000 miles

          • Powertrain warranty: 10 years or 100,000 miles

          • Complimentary maintenance: 3 years or 36,000 miles

The 2025 Genesis GV70 remains a standout in the compact luxury SUV segment. It blends performance, refinement, and technology at a price point that undercuts its German rivals. While some competitors offer better fuel efficiency or a more recognizable badge, the GV70 delivers genuine luxury and driving enjoyment without compromise. For buyers seeking value-packed sophistication, the 2025 GV70 is one of the smartest choices.
