2024 Genesis G70 – Overview

The Genesis G70 has carved out its own niche, shining brightly in the luxury sports sedan segment. Now in its first generation and sixth year on the market, it continues to hold its own against esteemed European competitors. Under the hood, the 2024 Genesis G70 delivers impressive performance, featuring a standard 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 300 hp, and an available 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 that pumps out 365 hp. Driving enthusiasts can enjoy rear-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive remains an option.

Inside, the cabin exudes elegance and sophistication, with Genesis challenging brands like Audi in both craftsmanship and design. The G70’s ride and handling range from precise and confident with the base engine to outstanding with the top-tier twin-turbo setup. Coupled with a competitive starting price and an exceptional 10-year powertrain warranty, the G70 stands out as a practical yet exhilarating choice for luxury sedan buyers.

    What’s New for 2024 Genesis G70?

For 2024, the G70 drops its former standard 252-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, replacing it with a more potent 300-hp 2.5-liter engine. Enhancements also include standard Brembo brakes, fresh paint options, and updated wheel designs. Inside, the cabin sees several upgrades: a small touchscreen for climate controls, heated front seats, a frameless rearview mirror, and the addition of a USB-C port for modern connectivity.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The 2024 Genesis G70 starts at $42,750, with fully loaded models reaching $55,600, depending on trim and options.

Even at the higher end, the G70 offers strong value compared with competing sports sedans. Our pick is the Sport Prestige 3.3T model. Its twin-turbo V6 delivers more power while proving nearly as efficient as the outgoing 2.0-liter turbo-four in our tests. This trim also includes nearly every premium feature Genesis offers, such as a head-up display, a 360-degree camera system, Nappa leather seats, and a microfiber headliner.

    Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The entry-level 2024 Genesis G70 2.5T comes with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder producing 300 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive; all-wheel drive is available as an option. For maximum performance, the twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 ups the ante with 365 horsepower.

No matter which engine you choose, the G70 impresses with its balance of ride comfort and athletic handling. The suspension smooths out rough pavement while keeping the sedan composed through tight corners. The 3.3T adds adaptive dampers, giving drivers the ability to stiffen the ride for sharper responses. Across the lineup, steering is precise and communicative, with effort that can be tailored through multiple drive modes.

      0–60 MPH Times

In testing, the 365-hp twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 version of the 2024 Genesis G70 sprinted from zero to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, outpacing many German competitors. The 300-hp 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder model reached the same mark in 5.9 seconds.

      Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The 2024 Genesis G70 swaps its previous 2.0-liter engine for a more powerful 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, though the upgrade comes with a slight dip in efficiency. Rear-wheel-drive models are rated at 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, while the all-wheel-drive version comes in just under that at 20 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.

Official real-world results are still pending until we can run the 2.5T through our 75-mph highway fuel economy test. As for the twin-turbo V-6 option, the EPA lists it at 20 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined. On our own highway loop, however, the V-6 impressed with a 29-mpg return.

For detailed and up-to-date fuel economy ratings, check the EPA’s official website.

      Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The 2024 Genesis G70 cabin delivers a true luxury experience, with premium materials, elegant stitching, sturdy switchgear, and impressive build quality throughout. Its driver-focused layout and intuitive controls make the car especially appealing to enthusiasts, without resorting to gimmicks like fake carbon fiber trim or a flat-bottom steering wheel.

That said, entry can be slightly awkward due to the driver’s seat position near the B-pillar. While the front seats strike a satisfying balance between comfort and sportiness, this setup reduces rear legroom. Storage solutions are mixed: a handy tray at the front of the center console works well for small items like phones, but the door pockets are tight, and the center console bin could use more organization.

Cargo space is modest but usable—five carry-on bags fit in the trunk, expanding to 14 with the rear seats folded.
